Bahamas Post-Disaster Education Sector Assessment
A Qualitative Analysis through the Lens of Resilience-Building
The Post-Disaster Education Sector Assessment is the result of an intensive collaboration between USAID, The Bahamas Ministry of Education and UNICEF. The multi-agency assessment team wishes to acknowledge the important contributions of all who have worked hard to support the assessment activities from October 2019 through February 2020 thus supporting the ongoing recovery efforts of the Bahamian people, Ministry of Education (MoE) and local and international partners. Special thanks to Honorable Jeffrey L. Lloyd, Minister of Education, and U.S. Charge Stephanie Bowers for forging this strategic partnership.
The purpose of the Bahamas Post-Disaster Education Sector Assessment is to provide relevant, timely information to The Bahamas Ministry of Education (MoE) and education stakeholders. This assessment focused on the main impact of Hurricane Dorian and sought to identify the local assets, resources and other sources of resilience that currently exist within the Bahamian education system, understand how Hurricane Dorian impacted the education system, and identify the capacities necessary to strengthen resilience of the education system.
