The Child Protection in Emergencies Professional Development Programme
Capacity gaps analysis survey
This report builds off a South East & East Asia Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) capacity building stakeholders mapping exercise, which was undertaken by the Joint Programme Management Team at Save the Children.
A 3 tiered Capacity Gaps Analysis was conducted between December 2015 - February 2016, across South East & East Asia to assess Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) capability gaps and Child Protection priorities among practitioners from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), the United Nations (UN) and government partners across the region (p. 3). This survey exercise is a part of the broader Capacity Gap Analysis process which has also included key informant interviews and desk research.Overall 42 practitioners from 16 organisations took part in the Capacity Gaps Analysis as a whole and CPiE practitioners from 13 different organisations took part in the survey (p. 1). One aspect of the Capacity Gap Analysis was an online survey, conducted using Survey Monkey. In total, 72 surveys were submitted with 36 fully completed; a ratio of 50%.The results of the survey have been analysed, looking at the below key areas:
- The main Child Protection in Emergencies programming priorities across the subregion;
- The main competency areas within Child Protection in Emergencies in the sub-region which need to be strengthened;
- Any key format features identified to include and/or avoid (p. 3), which include: Be specific to the context; Respect regional expertise; Involve Governments; Target the right people. (p. 20).
